DMM Wallnut Description

  • Different alloy is used for each size – smaller Wallnuts are made from a harder alloy to prevent shearing, while larger sizes are softer so they can bite into placements. Larger Wallnuts feature hollow construction to reduce weight.
  • A Wallnut’s curving taper fits a wide variety of cracks in different rock types.
  • They have a groove machined into their faces, allowing them to sit better in irregular placements and on highly featured rock.
  • Wallnuts are mounted on wires that are stiff enough to allow overhead placements, while flexible enough to reduce the chance of lifting out.
  • Size range from 6.7 to 37.4mm.
  • Colour coded for quick and easy size selection.

The Jurassic Verdict

The DMM Wallnut is our instructors and coaches favourite nut. These nuts seat well and are less prone to popping out although they are among the most difficult to clean. DMM Wallnuts are also very durable, due to the hot forging of the heads of the smaller sizes. Wallnuts have a larger curve than most, making them among the best at fitting into parallel cracks and they feature a groove running up one side of the nut. This groove also makes the nuts more stable helping them seat better and making them less prone to being pulled out by rope drag or while climbing past them.

DMM Wallnuts are in the middle of the price range and you get a decent size run with good overlaps. People who often climbing on textured rock when trad climbing will certainly enjoy the benefit of these nuts. DMM Walnuts are very durable and will last a long time. Someone willing pay a little extra and hoping to get years out of their investment will be happy with this product.
