Oscar Preston – I went to the Southern Youth Bouldering Championships in Swindon on 7 July. The qualifier boulders looked awesome and I could tell some of them would push me to the max. I came 1st in the qualifiers which meant I was through to the semi-finals. The semi-finals were a further 6 problems. I topped 4 out of 6 which kept me in 1st place. The finals were held in the style of an International Competition. This included isolation which meant we didn’t get to see the problems until we climbed them, I flashed the first 2 problems but only got halfway up the 3rd and final problem. That was enough and I still came 1st overall. So happy with my progress at the moment! 😊 👌 💪
Why has Oscar done so well and why is he improving all of the time? Well, basically Oscar shows true dedication to following his coached training plans, is totally motivated and puts in the maximum effort. The coached training plans that he follows are written specifically for Oscar by our Head Coach, Paul Jackson following monthly 1:1 coaching sessions. This way we can look at where Oscar needs to improve and write that into a plan that meets this needs and without injury.
