The ultimate in climber coaching workshops with five days of coached climbing and one day of rest in the forests of Frankenjura, Germany.

Frankenjura is regarded as one of the top areas for sport climbing in Europe, and is the largest and best climbing area in Germany. It is located between the cities of Nuremberg, Bamberg, and Bayreuth in northern Bavaria, in southern Germany. In this large area, there are approximately 1,000 crags spread out in a beautiful forest terrain, making Frankenjura a perfect holiday destination for rock climbers all over Europe.

The majority of the routes at Frankenjura are short powerful single pitch sport routes that are either vertical or overhanging. The character and style of climbing is on excellent quality white and grey limestone rock that is full of finger pockets, bents and holes. Frankenjura boasts in excess of 10,000 routes meaning there is something for climbers of all abilities from beginners, intermediate climbers, through to top end hard climbers. The grades range from UIAA 3 (F3) through to UIAA 11+ (F9a).

We cater for all climbing abilities on this holiday, so that you can choose the best coaching to meet your goals. Whether your goal is 6a or 8a we have designed an intensive, but well balanced learning journey of fully coached climbing sessions to give you the best chance of hitting your goal!

With the lowest coach to climber ratio anywhere of 1:4 or less you can be assured of our full attention. On arrival you will have a one to one analysis session to discuss your pre-joining paper and goals with your coach, plus again each evening you will have a one to one post climb video analysis session with your coach. You will be fully coached for 5 days, with a rest day in between, by a performance climber coach on the sports crags in Frankenjura. During the workshops your climbing will be continuously assessed and coaching will be given to help you reach your goals.

The Jurassic Climbing Academy team will be staying stay at Gasthof Eichler where everything is available within your apartment including WiFi. We also recommend Gasthof Zur Guten Einkehr nearby.

Each morning we meet in the common room where you may have breakfast before we leave for the days workshop. Each evening we meet in the common room where you may enjoy a drink while you have your one to one post climb video analysis session with your coach. From here we arrange a table for the group at one of the local fantastic restaurants where you may enjoy some of the suburb Franken cuisine.

On rest day we arrange a day out to see the sights at either Pottenstein, Nuremberg or Bamberg with their historic centres, cafe’s and shops. Or you are free to do your own thing if you prefer.

During the evening before rest day you are welcome to join us at the famous Cafe Kraft Gimme in the city of Nuremberg, the home of super climber Alex Megos and his coaches, Patrick Matros and Dicki Korb for a hard bouldering and training session.
